MOSCOW (Sputnik) - A branch of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) in Khabarovsk Territory said in a statement on Monday that it had detained a man responsible for propaganda and recruitment for an international terrorist organisation via social media.
"The man was responsible for the propaganda of the terrorist organisation's activities, incitement to illegal activities, justification of terrorism and recruitment", the statement read.According to the FSB, the 45-year-old individual used e-messengers to get in touch with a member of a terrorist organisation and eventually became a member himself. "To this purpose, as per the instruction from his 'supervisors', he got on various social media to publish videos that encouraged providing resources and financial support to illegal armed groups as well as joining them", the statement added.Two criminal cases have been launched in the matter: one on involvement in terrorist organisations, punishable in Russia by 20 years in prison, and another on public incitement to terrorist activities via the internet, punishable by up to seven years. | |||||||

As a decade of Likud government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu comes to a close, Israel's presence in Judea and Samaria has become an unassailed fact. There is not only a broad consensus about it within Israeli society, it is also being recognized internationally – such as the recent American acknowledgement of the settlement enterprise.
Even the Arab world is starting to show signs of willingness to make peace with Israel without preconditioning a deal on the establishment of a Palestinian state, and it appears that plenty of Palestinians are starting to realize that their dream of a sovereign state is becoming unrealistic. Follow Israel Hayom on Facebook and Twitter Shamir's time in office is primarily remembered for the enormous aliyah from the former Soviet Union, followed by that from Ethiopia – both of which fundamentally changed the face of Israel and made a major contribution to strengthening the state. But Shamir saw his greatest achievement as "protecting the Land of Israel." After he left the Prime Minister's Office following Yitzhak Rabin's victory in the 1992 election, Shamir was quoted as saying, "I didn't withdraw from an inch of the Land of Israel." Shamir came under criticism from the Right on many occasions, and this – as well as the divisions in the right-wing camp – eventually led to his downfall. But when Shamir left the Prime Minister's Office, Israel was in an advantageous position when it came to the Palestinian movement. The Israeli settlement enterprise in Judea and Samaria – and in the Gaza Strip, at the time – became an established fact, whereas the Palestinians' determination to confront Israel weakened significantly. The Rabin government decided to try and take advantage of the PLO's weakness to make it into a convenient partner for Israel. The Oslo Accords of 1993 brought the PLO back to life and gave it a hold on Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, as well as breathing life into the vision of two states for two peoples to which Israel and the international community were committed at the time. This is the reality that Netanyahu inherited when he first became prime minister in 1996 and when he was elected prime minister for the second time in 2009. But a decade later, the reality on the ground is completely different, and to a large extent Israel is back where it was at the end of Shamir's term. Today, only a few – even among the Palestinians – believe that the two-state solution is realistic, and Israel has the upper hand as it faces a split Palestinian leadership that lacks legitimacy both at home and abroad. Under Shamir and under Netanyahu, a lot of the credit for the Palestinians' downfall goes to the Palestinian leadership itself. The collapse of the dream of a Palestinian state is the result of the Palestinians' failure to run their own affairs, whether under the PA or under Hamas. Radicalism, a pull toward violence – even among the Palestinians – as well as rampant corruption were all a recipe for the failure. But this reality is first and foremost the result of the policy that Shamir led and Netanyahu is leading now – a policy that creating facts on the ground that will be difficult to change. In a family statement to NBC New York, attorney Michael Sussman said Sunday that Thomas "has no known history of anti-Semitism and was in a home that embraced and respected all religions and races. He is not a member of any hate groups." Sussman will be seeking an immediate mental health evaluation of Thomas, according to the statement. The 37-year-old pleaded not guilty to five counts of attempted murder and one count of burglary at his arraignment on Sunday. Thomas is accused of stabbing five people Saturday night. A surveillance photo obtained by NBC News shows him charging into Hasidic Rabbi Chaim L. Rottenberg's Rockland County home during a Hanukkah celebration where as many as 70 people were present, according to law enforcement sources. "It's important for me to express to the rabbi and to all the people of the state of New York that this is intolerance, meets, ignorance, meets illegality," Cuomo said. "This is violence spurred by hate, it is mass violence, and I consider this an act of domestic terrorism."

NY Man Charged With Stabbing 5 at Rabbi’s Home Replay
His defense said Thomas lives with his mother in Greenwood Lake and claimed he had no criminal history, but an assistant district attorney at his arraignment said he had been arrested for menacing and reckless endangerment in Greenwood Lake this past summer, without elaborating. Law enforcement sources tell NBC New York that no weapons or threatening writing were found following a search of Thomas' home but authorities are continuing to search through electronics, including a laptop. Greenwood Lake Mayor Jesse Dwyer was stunned by the stabbings, saying he has known Thomas years ago when they played basketball together. "No one would have ever suspected that he would be capable of committing such a heinous crime," Dwyer said. After the stabbing, Thomas allegedly tried to gain access to the synagogue next door, but the occupants barricaded themselves inside. Thomas then allegedly fled the scene in a silver sedan, according to witnesses, one of whom got car's license plate number for authorities. Police say Thomas then led them on a 2-hour manhunt before license plate readers helped them zero in on the car's location near the George Washington Bridge and Thomas was taken into custody without incident. Two law enforcement sources told NBC New York police found a long knife inside the vehicle when officers stopped Thomas in Harlem, 30 miles away from the crime scene. Sources have not confirmed if the knife found was the alleged weapon in Saturday's attack. Thomas had blood on his clothing and smelled of bleach when police found him, according to authorities.

The attack was the latest in a string of suspected anti-Semitic attacks in the greater New York City area in the last few weeks. In just the last week alone, at least 10 Jews, including those stabbed in Ramapo, have been injured in the spate of violence in New York City and surrounding towns. That follows the attack on a Kosher supermarket in Jersey City earlier this month that left a cop and three civilians dead. The NYPD says anti-Semitic hate crimes are up 18% in 2019 compared to the previous year. There have been 214 reported attacks in New York City alone. The NYPD Counterterrorism Bureau said was "closely monitoring" the situation. NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea on Sunday said the department had increased patrols at "key locations to ensure that everyone is safe during this holiday season, and into the new year."  DAMAGE TO AMERICA’S STANDING IN THE WORLD -- AS A COUNTRY THAT RESPECTS THE SOVEREIGNTY OF NATIONS -- HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE It’s one thing to defend President Trump against false witness by the magazine Christianity Today. It’s another matter to rationalize or excuse how certain Trump officials are using the United Nations and the State Department to attack Christian nations.The controversial event occurred just a few days before Christmas, when Trump’s U.S. Ambassador to Germany, longtime homosexual activist Richard Grenell, went to the United Nations to promote what he called a global initiative to force all U.N. members to approve homosexual conduct. He was joined in this demand by Trump’s U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Kelly Craft, who lectured the 69 countries which have laws making homosexuality illegal. She told them that “human dignity” requires that every country on the face of the earth embrace the practice of homosexuality. This is the kind of homosexual imperialism that evangelical Christians objected to from the Obama Administration. Christians in foreign countries saw the attack as unwarranted interference in their internal affairs and subversion of Biblical values. Decriminalizing Homosexuality in Solidarity with LGBTQ PeopleThe event featuring Grenell and Craft was hosted by the U.S. Mission to the U.N. and included a representative of the Harvey Milk Foundation, named for the first openly gay politician in California.The George Soros-funded Open Society Foundations began a major global campaign to promote homosexuality in 2009, under the name of the “New Beginning” initiative, and it continues through “Funders for LGBTQ Issues.” This network claims that over a 40-year period, almost 800 different institutional grant-makers and foundations have provided more than $771 million to 6,000 different organizations working in 117 countries to promote legalization of homosexuality. One of the original proposals was “Encouraging U.S. diplomatic engagement on international LGBT issues as legitimate human rights concerns.” But at a time when Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual exploitation of young women is still in the news and his collaborators are being sought by law enforcement, the decision by these Trump officials to continue the Obama policy of associating with the global homosexual movement carries special risks. Years ago, a group called the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) was discovered to have ties to the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA). Under pressure, ILGA expelled NAMBLA and two other pedophile groups. Harry Hay, the communist founder of the modern gay rights movement, was a supporter of NAMBLA, while Harvey Milk, who became a gay activist icon after he was assassinated at the age of 33, was fond of teenage homosexual lovers and was accused of being a homosexual predator. A major Democratic Party donor, gay activist Terry Bean has been arrested on charges relating to a sex abuse case involving a teenager. Bean was a co-founder of the major homosexual lobby, the Human Rights Campaign. Homosexual ImperialismMany nations objected to the homosexual imperialism of Barack Hussein Obama, with Ugandan Christian minister Martin Ssempa saying, “Sodomy is neither the change we want nor can believe in. In a video titled “Straight Nation Uprising,” based on his new book by the same name, he calls for “African resistance” to “Euro-American LGBT Aggression” on sexual matters.Grenell and Craft have justified their campaign by noting that Trump said his administration would be “working with other nations to stop criminalizing of homosexuality.” But there is no evidence that the president wanted to browbeat some of America’s friends and allies at the U.N. into accepting and promoting the homosexual lifestyle. It seems certain that the president was concerned about people being physically injured for their self-proclaimed sexual orientation. What happened at the U.N. was a major public spectacle designed to shame Christian nations into recognizing and approving homosexuality. It appears to be a case of Grenell hijacking U.S. foreign policy for the benefit of his friends in gay groups such as the Log Cabin Republicans. A foreign affairs advisor to Mitt Romney during his 2012 presidential campaign, Grenell has a same-sex partner and claims to be a Christian. Craft was reportedly recommended for her post by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. She and her husband, Joe Craft, donated about $1 million to Trump’s inaugural committee. What they apparently don’t appreciate is that countries with a Christian or Muslim orientation have resisted putting government approval on homosexual conduct for many reasons, including public health. Indeed, in the modern era, the so-called “criminalization” of homosexuality is designed to discourage dangerous high-risk practices which spread AIDS and other diseases. AIDS is devastating Africa in particular. Ambassador Attacks Christian ZambiaThe Obama policy that is being continued by Trump officials Grenell and Craft has already led to a major deterioration of diplomatic relations with the African nation of Zambia. Indeed, a major scandal erupted when the U.S. Ambassador to Zambia, Daniel Foote, attacked the conservative Christian country of Zambia (96 percent Christian) over a court case involving the sentencing of two homosexuals.Incredibly, Foote’s official U.S. Government statement seemed to imply that Zambia was obligated to promote homosexuality because it received American foreign aid. Foote said “Zambia is one of the largest per-capita recipients of U.S. assistance in the world, at $500 million each year. In these countries where we contribute resources, this includes partnering in areas of mutual interest, and holding the recipient government accountable for its responsibilities under this partnership.” Zambian President Edgar Lungu reportedly called President Trump to complain about what U.S. officials were doing. He told Sky News, “We are saying no to homosexuality. When you are tying it to aid, if that is how you are going to bring your aid, then I’m afraid the West can leave us alone in our poverty. And we’ll continue scrounging and struggling.” The Trump Administration has now withdrawn Foote, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, from his post. Clean House at the United NationsUnless corrective action is taken quickly, the next move by major Soros-supported groups such as the Council for Global Equality and OutRight Action International will be to have the U.N. declare homosexual activity an international human right.Such a move would put Trump on the spot. His supporters like what he has done in the areas of economics, anti-abortion policy, and national defense. But many of these same people do not want the government to approve homosexual conduct. Damage to America’s standing in the world—as a country that respects the sovereignty of nations—has already been done. But if Trump is pressured to embrace a global “right” to homosexuality, it could not only further undermine his support among conservative Christians but turn out to be a moral catastrophe for America and the world. US media reported that the suspect was covered in blood when officers detained him. Thomas was ordered held in custody after appearing in Ramapo Town Court, where he denied the charges. The attack at the home of Rabbi Chaim Rottenberg was quickly condemned as another incident underscoring growing anti-Semitic violence in the United States. President Donald Trump tweeted that Americans "must all come together to fight, confront, and eradicate the evil scourge of anti-Semitism." New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told reporters at the scene on Sunday that "these are people who intend to create mass harm, mass violence -- generate fear based on race, color, creed." The New York Times quoted Taleea Collins, a friend of the suspect, and his pastor Wendy Paige, as saying the suspect had struggled with mental illness. No official details were released about the victims. Local media said one person was seriously injured. Thomas was reportedly arrested in his car about 30 miles (50 kilometers) away, two hours after the attack. 'He started to come after me' "Everyone was screaming and panicking and shouting 'out out out.' It was chaos," Joseph Gluck, 30, told reporters. "I threw a coffee table at the guy. Then he started to come after me." Last year a white supremacist shot dead 11 people at a Pittsburgh synagogue -- the deadliest attack against the Jewish community in the United States. Earlier this month six people, including the two attackers, were killed in a shooting at a kosher deli in Jersey City, New Jersey, which authorities said was fueled in part by anti-Semitism. A report in April from the Anti-Defamation League stated that the number of anti-Semitic attacks in 2018 was close to the record of 2017, with 1,879 incidents. As he did Sunday, Trump denounced anti-Semitism after previous attacks but critics blame him for stoking racial hatreds with comments about Muslims and Latin migrants that some white nationalists have taken as confirming their position. Trump's daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner are Jewish. "I was praying for my life," said Aron Kohn, 65, another witness to Saturday's attack who compared the assailant's knife to "the size of a broomstick." Kohn threw chairs and tables in an attempt to head off the assault. "I saw him stabbing people," he added. "He injured a guy. He was bleeding in his hand, all over." Rockland has the largest Jewish population per capita of any US county, with 31.4 percent, or 90,000 Jewish residents. Surge in hate crimes Following the attack, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the creation of neighborhood groups tasked with preventing hate crimes, along with stepped up police patrols. "Fearing the next act of terror will not become the new normal for our Jewish neighbors. In New York City, diversity is our strength and we respect the traditions of all who call New York City home," the mayor said in a statement. New York Senator Chuck Schumer demanded "a thorough federal investigation by the FBI of this specific attack and other anti-Semitic attacks in recent days." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly condemned the latest incident and other "recent displays of anti-Semitism, while Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted: "Antisemitism & hate have no place anywhere in our world and we must continue to stand together against them." The attack happened at about 10:00 pm on Saturday, the seventh night of Hanukkah, with about 100 people gathered for a candle-lighting ceremony. "It's a wave and a trend of hate-filled violence that is sweeping the country, not just NY State," tweeted Maya Wiley, a civil rights activist and senior vice president for social justice at the New School private university in New York. At Thomas's court appearance, bail was set at $5 million and he was then taken in handcuffs to a police vehicle and driven to Rockland County Jail. | |||||||

Russian President Vladimir Putin has thanked his US counterpart Donald Trump for intelligence that helped prevent terror attacks in St Petersburg, the Kremlin has said.
Two Russians were detained on 27 December on suspicion of plotting attacks during New Year celebrations in the city, according to Russian news agencies which cited the Federal Security Service (FSB). The Kremlin said Mr Putin thanked Mr Trump during a phone call on Sunday, but gave no further details. However, Mr Trump and Mr Putin have managed to keep personal lines open. The Russian leader also phoned Mr Trump two years ago to thank him for a tip that Moscow said helped prevent a bomb attack on a cathedral in St Petersburg. Russia has repeatedly been the target of attacks from militant groups including Islamic State. Sunday's Kremlin statement said Mr Putin and Mr Trump agreed to continue to bilateral co-operation to tackle terrorism. | |||||||

US media reported that the suspect was covered in blood when officers detained him. Thomas was ordered held in custody after appearing in Ramapo Town Court, where he denied the charges. The attack at the home of Rabbi Chaim Rottenberg was quickly condemned as another incident underscoring growing anti-Semitic violence in the United States. President Donald Trump tweeted that Americans "must all come together to fight, confront, and eradicate the evil scourge of anti-Semitism." New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told reporters at the scene on Sunday that "these are people who intend to create mass harm, mass violence -- generate fear based on race, color, creed." The New York Times quoted Taleea Collins, a friend of the suspect, and his pastor Wendy Paige, as saying the suspect had struggled with mental illness. No official details were released about the victims. Local media said one person was seriously injured. Thomas was reportedly arrested in his car about 30 miles (50 kilometers) away, two hours after the attack. 'He started to come after me' "Everyone was screaming and panicking and shouting 'out out out.' It was chaos," Joseph Gluck, 30, told reporters. "I threw a coffee table at the guy. Then he started to come after me." Last year a white supremacist shot dead 11 people at a Pittsburgh synagogue -- the deadliest attack against the Jewish community in the United States. Earlier this month six people, including the two attackers, were killed in a shooting at a kosher deli in Jersey City, New Jersey, which authorities said was fueled in part by anti-Semitism. A report in April from the Anti-Defamation League stated that the number of anti-Semitic attacks in 2018 was close to the record of 2017, with 1,879 incidents. As he did Sunday, Trump denounced anti-Semitism after previous attacks but critics blame him for stoking racial hatreds with comments about Muslims and Latin migrants that some white nationalists have taken as confirming their position. Trump's daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner are Jewish. "I was praying for my life," said Aron Kohn, 65, another witness to Saturday's attack who compared the assailant's knife to "the size of a broomstick." Kohn threw chairs and tables in an attempt to head off the assault. "I saw him stabbing people," he added. "He injured a guy. He was bleeding in his hand, all over." Rockland has the largest Jewish population per capita of any US county, with 31.4 percent, or 90,000 Jewish residents. Surge in hate crimes Following the attack, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the creation of neighborhood groups tasked with preventing hate crimes, along with stepped up police patrols. "Fearing the next act of terror will not become the new normal for our Jewish neighbors. In New York City, diversity is our strength and we respect the traditions of all who call New York City home," the mayor said in a statement. New York Senator Chuck Schumer demanded "a thorough federal investigation by the FBI of this specific attack and other anti-Semitic attacks in recent days." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu strongly condemned the latest incident and other "recent displays of anti-Semitism, while Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted: "Antisemitism & hate have no place anywhere in our world and we must continue to stand together against them." The attack happened at about 10:00 pm on Saturday, the seventh night of Hanukkah, with about 100 people gathered for a candle-lighting ceremony. "It's a wave and a trend of hate-filled violence that is sweeping the country, not just NY State," tweeted Maya Wiley, a civil rights activist and senior vice president for social justice at the New School private university in New York. At Thomas's court appearance, bail was set at $5 million and he was then taken in handcuffs to a police vehicle and driven to Rockland County Jail. | ||

DAMAGE TO AMERICA’S STANDING IN THE WORLD -- AS A COUNTRY THAT RESPECTS THE SOVEREIGNTY OF NATIONS -- HAS ALREADY BEEN DONEIt’s one thing to defend President Trump against false witness by the magazine Christianity Today. It’s another matter to rationalize or excuse how certain Trump officials are using the United Nations and the State Department to attack Christian nations.The controversial event occurred just a few days before Christmas, when Trump’s U.S. Ambassador to Germany, longtime homosexual activist Richard Grenell, went to the United Nations to promote what he called a global initiative to force all U.N. members to approve homosexual conduct. He was joined in this demand by Trump’s U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Kelly Craft, who lectured the 69 countries which have laws making homosexuality illegal. She told them that “human dignity” requires that every country on the face of the earth embrace the practice of homosexuality. This is the kind of homosexual imperialism that evangelical Christians objected to from the Obama Administration. Christians in foreign countries saw the attack as unwarranted interference in their internal affairs and subversion of Biblical values. Decriminalizing Homosexuality in Solidarity with LGBTQ PeopleThe event featuring Grenell and Craft was hosted by the U.S. Mission to the U.N. and included a representative of the Harvey Milk Foundation, named for the first openly gay politician in California.The George Soros-funded Open Society Foundations began a major global campaign to promote homosexuality in 2009, under the name of the “New Beginning” initiative, and it continues through “Funders for LGBTQ Issues.” This network claims that over a 40-year period, almost 800 different institutional grant-makers and foundations have provided more than $771 million to 6,000 different organizations working in 117 countries to promote legalization of homosexuality. One of the original proposals was “Encouraging U.S. diplomatic engagement on international LGBT issues as legitimate human rights concerns.” But at a time when Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual exploitation of young women is still in the news and his collaborators are being sought by law enforcement, the decision by these Trump officials to continue the Obama policy of associating with the global homosexual movement carries special risks. Years ago, a group called the International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) was discovered to have ties to the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA). Under pressure, ILGA expelled NAMBLA and two other pedophile groups. Harry Hay, the communist founder of the modern gay rights movement, was a supporter of NAMBLA, while Harvey Milk, who became a gay activist icon after he was assassinated at the age of 33, was fond of teenage homosexual lovers and was accused of being a homosexual predator. A major Democratic Party donor, gay activist Terry Bean has been arrested on charges relating to a sex abuse case involving a teenager. Bean was a co-founder of the major homosexual lobby, the Human Rights Campaign. Homosexual ImperialismMany nations objected to the homosexual imperialism of Barack Hussein Obama, with Ugandan Christian minister Martin Ssempa saying, “Sodomy is neither the change we want nor can believe in. In a video titled “Straight Nation Uprising,” based on his new book by the same name, he calls for “African resistance” to “Euro-American LGBT Aggression” on sexual matters.Grenell and Craft have justified their campaign by noting that Trump said his administration would be “working with other nations to stop criminalizing of homosexuality.” But there is no evidence that the president wanted to browbeat some of America’s friends and allies at the U.N. into accepting and promoting the homosexual lifestyle. It seems certain that the president was concerned about people being physically injured for their self-proclaimed sexual orientation. What happened at the U.N. was a major public spectacle designed to shame Christian nations into recognizing and approving homosexuality. It appears to be a case of Grenell hijacking U.S. foreign policy for the benefit of his friends in gay groups such as the Log Cabin Republicans. A foreign affairs advisor to Mitt Romney during his 2012 presidential campaign, Grenell has a same-sex partner and claims to be a Christian. Craft was reportedly recommended for her post by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. She and her husband, Joe Craft, donated about $1 million to Trump’s inaugural committee. What they apparently don’t appreciate is that countries with a Christian or Muslim orientation have resisted putting government approval on homosexual conduct for many reasons, including public health. Indeed, in the modern era, the so-called “criminalization” of homosexuality is designed to discourage dangerous high-risk practices which spread AIDS and other diseases. AIDS is devastating Africa in particular. Ambassador Attacks Christian ZambiaThe Obama policy that is being continued by Trump officials Grenell and Craft has already led to a major deterioration of diplomatic relations with the African nation of Zambia. Indeed, a major scandal erupted when the U.S. Ambassador to Zambia, Daniel Foote, attacked the conservative Christian country of Zambia (96 percent Christian) over a court case involving the sentencing of two homosexuals.Incredibly, Foote’s official U.S. Government statement seemed to imply that Zambia was obligated to promote homosexuality because it received American foreign aid. Foote said “Zambia is one of the largest per-capita recipients of U.S. assistance in the world, at $500 million each year. In these countries where we contribute resources, this includes partnering in areas of mutual interest, and holding the recipient government accountable for its responsibilities under this partnership.” Zambian President Edgar Lungu reportedly called President Trump to complain about what U.S. officials were doing. He told Sky News, “We are saying no to homosexuality. When you are tying it to aid, if that is how you are going to bring your aid, then I’m afraid the West can leave us alone in our poverty. And we’ll continue scrounging and struggling.” The Trump Administration has now withdrawn Foote, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, from his post. Clean House at the United NationsUnless corrective action is taken quickly, the next move by major Soros-supported groups such as the Council for Global Equality and OutRight Action International will be to have the U.N. declare homosexual activity an international human right.Such a move would put Trump on the spot. His supporters like what he has done in the areas of economics, anti-abortion policy, and national defense. But many of these same people do not want the government to approve homosexual conduct. Damage to America’s standing in the world—as a country that respects the sovereignty of nations—has already been done. But if Trump is pressured to embrace a global “right” to homosexuality, it could not only further undermine his support among conservative Christians but turn out to be a moral catastrophe for America and the world.
