But KNOW we should: we have to know the details of these hypothetical Intelligence Operations, their mechanisms, and the involved parties. If we do not know this, we are historically blind. Usually, these things are not sufficiently documented, and the best way to know them are the confessions of the masterminds, and I do want these confessions. That is why we waterboarded the suspects but we did that with the wrong people, and often they gave false confessions, to escape torture. I do not know how to get these confessions in the non-prison settings (we do not do it well in the prison settings also). We have to get the truth while the those in the know are still alive, and the time is getting short.
