TRISis - Crisis: "Muddled direction from the Pentagon": Turkey, Russia, Iran and the Syrian government as a greater danger than the Islamic State (ISIS)

Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley told the House Armed Services Committee on Wednesday that President Donald Trump's pardons of service members won't affect good order and discipline.

Milley also argued against pulling all U.S. troops out of Syria, as Trump has advocated in the past.
When asked why the troops are there, the chairman responded: “It’s because ISIS still exists.”
“It’ll probably take maybe six to 12 months, something like that, but ISIS would reemerge if the United States went to zero,” Milley said.
AFGHANISTAN FALLOUT: At Wednesday's House Armed Services hearing, Chairman Adam Smith said he wants to look into revelations in the Washington Post that officials misled the public about progress in the war in Afghanistan.
"I would request that this committee hold hearings on the Afghan Papers and call before Congress, with subpoena, every person who has misled this country," Rep. Ro Khanna urged. Trump ally Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) also called for hearings.
Smith said he agreed, but also attempted to temper lawmakers’ expectations.
"I think that it's appropriate to have hearings. I will tell you right up front, just to set expectations correctly, I'm not going to call every single witness who has anything to do with this," Smith said. "I do think it's something we should take a look at and get explanations."
TODAY: Adm. Charles Ray, the Coast Guard’s vice commandant, appears before the Senate Commerce Committee at 10 a.m. to discuss threats in the Arctic.

Bravo, New Abwehr! They are the real TRISexual: they will try anything.

The Solution: Normal, healthy, regular, functional, productive, and fruitful contacts between the U.S. and the Russian military circles. It is difficult to view the present situation as satisfactory, the allied relationship should be restored, for the benefits of the both sides and the world. If you need my help to start and to establish the contacts and communications, as the translator-interpreter, I will help you.
I think, they are good people; and they can be reliable allies, just like in not so distant Past.

A Senate committee yesterday advanced legislation to impose sanctions on Turkey after its military offensive in Syria and purchase of a Russian S-400 missile system, despite opposition from the Trump administration and Ankara. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted by 18-4 to send the “Promoting American National Security and Preventing the Resurgence of ISIS Act of 2019” for a vote in the full Senate. Rebecca Kheel reports at the Hill.
Turkey slammed U.S. senators for backing the sanctions bill, denouncing the latest initiatives in Congress as “a new manifestation of disrespect for our sovereign decisions regarding our national security.” Al Jazeera reports.
American commanders in northern Syria now see military units from Turkey, Russia, Iran and the Syrian government as a greater danger than the Islamic State (ISIS) forces they were sent to combat. When commanders sought guidance outlining how American troops might deal with an attack from the assortment of armed groups, they “received muddled direction from the Pentagon,” according to two Defense Department officials.
