ПЕТРОПАВЛОВСК-КАМЧАТСКИЙ, 19 янв - РИА Новости. Попыткам западных стран исказить историю о Великой Отечественной войне будет противопоставлена объективная информация из архивов, заявил президент России Владимир Путин в интервью программе "Москва. Кремль. Путин" на канале "Россия 1".
"Мы должны противопоставить этому объективную информацию, которой у нас достаточно. Я уже говорил об этом в послании. Мы создадим центр из архивных документов, видео-, фотоматериалов, которые на десятилетия вперед, а может и на гораздо больший срок вперед, не дадут никому возможности извращать эту историю для того, чтобы достигать каких-то своих конъюнктурных сиюминутных политических целей, наносить ущерб памяти нашего народа, памяти наших отцов, дедов, которые отдали свои жизни в борьбе с нацизмом", - сказал глава государства.
Власти России не раз заявляли, что некоторые европейские страны пытаются переписать историю. Президент России заявил в середине декабря, что они, в частности, Польша, вступили в сговор с фашистской Германией, в распоряжении России есть документы, как они вели переговоры. По мнению российских политиков, эту часть своей истории Европа не готова признавать. По словам спикера Совфеда Валентины Матвиенко, это нельзя оставлять без внимания.
В ходе послания к Федеральному Собранию Путин заявил, что РФ обязана обеспечить сохранение правды о Великой Отечественной войне и противостоять попыткам фальсификации ее истории.

Staunton, January 17 – Today, two more Ingush activists in detention had the additional charge of participation in an extremist organization. That brings the total in the republic to eight, and as a result, rights groups in Moscow have begun to take notice, now that the authorities in Ingushetia are making the same kind of charges as those in the capital.

Meanwhile, two other Ingush activists were sentenced in a Stavropol Kray court, Khazan Zyazikov to 13 months in jail -- his lawyer says he won’t appeal but asked that his sentence not be imposed immediately because his family is in such difficult straits – and Timur Oziyev who will be released at the end of February because of time served (kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/344797/and kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/344794/).
In other developments, relatives of Ingush activists said that the conditions of the family members of those detained was deteriorating and would be truly dire without the help of First Aid (kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/344754/), and the police in Ingushetia have opened a criminal case against a group of men for vandalizing ancient Ingush towers (kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/344760/).
Regarding the situation along Ingushetia’s contested borders, there were two developments: First, Kavkaz-Uzelreported that while the number of border crossing posts on the Ingush-Chechen border has increased in recent months, so far at least, Ingush have not suffered significant inconvenience in crossing (kavkaz-uzel.eu/articles/344767/).
And second, the editors of the independent Fortanga news portal say in a lead article that “among the crimes of Yunus-Bek Yevkurov” was his decision in 2013 to disband the border patrol regiment within the republic interior ministry that his predecessors had taken in 1993 and then maintained thereafter (fortanga.org/2019/03/zashhishhaya-rubezhi-respubliki/).
The group played a key role in controlling refugee flows and preventing the entrance of criminal elements into the republic and blocked Chechen efforts in 2013 to seize portions of Ingushetia. Immediately after that happened, Fortanga says, Yevkurov disbanded the unit and thus made it easier for Grozny to have its way in 2018.
The portal expresses the hope that the current or some future leader of Ingushetia will restore this unit, viewing it properly as a key element in the defense of the republic and its borders.

| Sun, 19 Jan 2020 12:00:00 -0500 The coffins of 11 Ukrainians killed when Iran's military mistakenly shot down a passenger airliner after takeoff from Tehran international airport arrived in Kyiv on Sunday as new questions emerged over Iranian officials' cooperation in ongoing investigations into the tragedy. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk, and other senior Ukrainian officials participated in a solemn ceremony after the 11 flag-draped coffins arrived in the Ukrainian capital carrying the bodies of nine Ukrainian International Airlines crew members and two passengers killed along with 165 other people when Flight PS752 went down on January 8. Iranian officials have said that air defenses on high alert during heightened tensions after Iranian missile strikes made an error and fired antiaircraft defenses at the Boeing 737-800. Ukrainians and officials from the four other countries that lost nationals in the disaster have demanded a "thorough, independent, and transparent" investigation. Now, the Iranian official who is leading the investigation for Tehran has appeared to backtrack on a pledge to share the crucial black boxes that were collecting flight data aboard the aircraft. Hassan Rezaifer, head of the accident investigations unit of Iran's civil aviation authority, was quoted on January 19 by the state-run IRNA news agency as saying "the flight recorders from the Ukrainian Boeing are in Iranian hands and we have no plans to send them out,” AP reported. Work to read the data was ongoing, he was quoted as saying, “But as of yet, we have made no decision" on transferring the black boxes outside the country. Rezaifer had been quoted by the Tasnim news agency as saying French, American, and Canadian experts would work with the equipment after it was sent to Kyiv because Iranian authorities had been unable to read the black-box data. "If this effort is unsuccessful, then the black box will be sent to France," he had added, according to Tasnim. Senior Iranian officials called for the punishment of those responsible after air-defense forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) shot down the plane. Joint Statement The foreign ministers of Afghanistan, Britain, Canada, Sweden, and Ukraine issued a joint statement after a meeting in London on January 17 to pressure Iran to give a full accounting. Most of the victims on the flight were Iranians or dual citizens, many of them students returning to studies abroad or families returning home after visiting relatives in Iran. Meanwhile, Ukrainians gathered at Boryspil International Airport outside Kyiv for a ceremony on January 19 to honor the flight's casualties as their bodies arrived home for burial. The incident came shortly after Iran launched missiles at military bases in Iraq that hosted U.S. forces, in an attack that was a response to a January 3 U.S. air strike that killed top Iranian military commander Major General Qasem Soleimani near Baghdad's international airport. After initially denying it shot down the plane, Tehran eventually admitted that its forces "unintentionally" struck the airliner with a missile after it said it veered toward a sensitive military site. Thousands of Iranians took to the streets to protest their government's actions, prompting public calls for punishment of the individuals responsible for the mistake. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called for national unity and defended the country's armed forces in a rare sermon at Tehran’s Mosalla Mosque on January 17. He accused Iran's enemies of using the plane crash to question the Islamic republic, the armed forces, and the IRGC, which he said "maintained the security" of Iran.  | ||

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The United States on Tuesday warned of threats to commercial vessels in and around the Persian Gulf in the wake of its confrontation with Iran.
Tensions have soared since the U.S. airstrike earlier this month that killed Gen. Qassem Soleimani, Iran’s top general and the architect of its regional military activities. Iran responded by firing ballistic missiles at U.S. troops in Iraq, without wounding anyone, and accidentally shot down a Ukrainian jetliner near Tehran, killing all 176 on board. “Heightened military activity and increased political tensions in this region continue to pose serious threats to commercial vessels,” the U.S. said in a maritime warning. “Associated with these threats is a potential for miscalculation or misidentification that could lead to aggressive actions.” It said some vessels have reported communications from “unknown entities falsely claiming to be U.S. or coalition warships.” It said ships contacted by Iranian forces should identify themselves and say that they are proceeding in accordance with international law. It advised ships to refuse to allow Iranian forces to board but not to forcibly resist them, and to immediately contact the U.S. Fifth Fleet. Iran was accused of sabotaging oil tankers in the Persian Gulf last year. It denied those allegations, but acknowledged seizing a British-flagged oil tanker in response to the impounding of an Iranian oil tanker by authorities in Gibraltar. The Iranian tanker was suspected of intending to violate sanctions to deliver oil to Syria, a close ally of Iran. Both ships were released weeks later. Судя по всему, мягкая погода на Крещение в этом году развеяла сомнения даже у тех омичей, которые до последнего сомневались, стоит ли окунаться в прорубь. Вместо традиционных для 19 января лютых морозов в регионе днем было всего минус 3 градуса, и местные жители отправились смывать грехи в проруби. Кстати, в этом году в Омской области можно было окунуться в 46 купелей.

Тем временем, православная церковь довольно скептически относится к новомодной традиции, появившейся в последнее десятилетие. Но желающих отметить религиозный праздник таким способом это не особо смутило. Вероятно, испытать свои силы в ледяной воде пришли даже те, кто имеют смутное представление о христианстве. Например, в омских пабликах появилось видео, где в прорубь окунаются мужчины со словами «Аллах акбар». Вероятно, мусульмане приобщились в православной традиции, решив, что бог един.

Кроме того, в Омске были открыты еще четыре купели - все в поселке Новая Станица Ленинского округа. Там решили развлечь купающихся выставками военной техники и ретроавтомобилей. Также на территории 14-го Военного городка устроили полевую кухню - горячей кашей кормили всех желающих. Представилась возможность смыть грехи и заключенным омских колоний - как мужских, так и женских.

WASHINGTON — President Trump’s legal defense team forcefully denied on Saturday that he abused his power by pressuring a foreign government to investigate his political rivals, calling the two impeachment charges against him a “brazen and unlawful” attempt to hurt his chances of re-election.
The defiant rejection of the accusations came in response to an official summons issued last week by the Senate, notifying Mr. Trump that he faces removal from office if he is convicted. In a six-page letter, Mr. Trump’s first formal response to the charges against him, his lawyers denounced the impeachment case brought by House Democrats as constitutionally and legally invalid, and driven by malice toward him. “The articles of impeachment submitted by House Democrats are a dangerous attack on the right of the American people to freely choose their president,” the document says. “This is a brazen and unlawful attempt to overturn the results of the 2016 election and interfere with the 2020 election, now just months away.” The president’s lawyers did not deny any of the core facts underlying Democrats’ charges, conceding what ample evidence has shown, that he withheld $391 million in aid from Ukraine and asked the country’s president to investigate former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and his son, Hunter. But they said Mr. Trump broke no laws and was acting entirely appropriately and within his powers when he did so, echoing the president’s repeated protestations of his own innocence. They argued that Mr. Trump was not seeking political advantage, but working to root out corruption in Ukraine.
“President Trump categorically and unequivocally denies each and every allegation in both articles of impeachment,” Pat A. Cipollone, the White House counsel, and Jay Sekulow, Mr. Trump’s personal lawyer, wrote.
Mr. Trump’s response came shortly after the House impeachment managers formally outlined their case for Mr. Trump’s removal from office, arguing in a lengthy legal filing that the Senate should convict him for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. In the 46-page trial memorandum, the House impeachment managers asserted that beginning in the spring, Mr. Trump undertook a corrupt campaign to push Ukraine to publicly announce investigations of his political rivals, withholding as leverage nearly $400 million in military aid and a White House meeting. He then sought to conceal those actions from Congress, they said, refusing to cooperate with a House impeachment inquiry and ordering administration officials not to testify or turn over documents requested by investigators. “President Trump’s conduct is the framers’ worst nightmare,” the managers wrote, framing their argument in constitutional terms. The legal back-and-forth on Saturday offered a preview of the strategies both sides will employ starting next week, when the Senate opens oral arguments in only the third impeachment trial of a president in the nation’s history.
Addressing head-on the political dynamics of the Senate, where majority Republicans have denounced the impeachment inquiry, the House managers warned that voters and future generations would sit in judgment of their actions.
“History will judge each senator’s willingness to rise above partisan differences, view the facts honestly, and defend the Constitution,” they wrote. “The outcome of these proceedings will determine whether generations to come will enjoy a safe and secure democracy in which the president is not a king.” The filing from the House Democrats repeated many of the same arguments they laid out last fall in a report on the findings of their impeachment inquiry. But the managers’ brief provided a glimpse of their strategy for the high-stakes legal and political fight ahead. The heavily footnoted document, formatted in the style of a courtroom filing, was headlined “In re Impeachment of President Donald J. Trump,” and addressed to the Senate, “sitting as a court of impeachment.” The memorandum laid out the evidence and legal arguments the managers intend to present in oral arguments on the floor of the Senate, likely beginning on Wednesday. The filing also included an additional 60 pages of facts the managers deemed material to their case.
As they have said for weeks, the president’s lawyers asserted in Saturday’s short filing that the articles of impeachment against Mr. Trump are “invalid on their face” because they do not accuse the president of breaking the law.
In Saturday’s document, the president’s legal team also rejected the charge that Mr. Trump is guilty of obstruction of Congress. They argued that Mr. Trump’s attempts to prevent witnesses from testifying in what the president has called a “sham” impeachment inquiry is a legitimate exercise of executive privilege that is essential to guard the authority and prerogatives of the presidency.
And they once again attacked the process by which House Democrats impeached Mr. Trump, accusing them of denying the president his due process rights. The president’s legal team faces a deadline of noon on Monday to produce a more comprehensive legal brief laying out the defense case they will make on the floor of the Senate. Mr. Cipollone and Mr. Sekulow will lead the president’s defense at trial. The White House announced Friday that the team will also include Ken Starr, the former independent counsel whose investigation of President Bill Clinton led to his impeachment, Robert W. Ray, who succeeded Mr. Starr, and Alan Dershowitz, a celebrity defense lawyer. Maggie Haberman contributed reporting. | ||
